22 December 2011

Minister for Family and Community Services Pru Goward today welcomed the appointment of Mr Jim Moore to the position of Director General of Family and Community Services (FACS).

Mr Moore was appointed following a rigorous merit selection process. The selection panel comprised eminent representatives from the public and not-for-profit sectors with extensive experience at the senior executive level, led by Mr Chris Eccles, Director General, Department of Premier and Cabinet and the inaugural Public Service Commissioner, Mr Graeme Head.

Minister Goward said Mr Moore has been acting in the role of Director General for over 6 months, while continuing as Chief Executive of the Division of Ageing, Disability and Home Care (ADHC).

“Jim’s 28 year career in Commonwealth and NSW Governments, as well as his strong record in successfully delivering reforms to improve the lives of vulnerable people makes him an excellent choice,” Ms Goward said.

“In NSW Mr Moore has been pivotal in changing the way disability services are delivered, particularly a greater reliance on non-government organisations.”

Minister for Disability Services and Minister for Ageing Andrew Constance also welcomed the appointment.

“I congratulate Mr Moore on his appointment and his contribution as the Chief Executive of ADHC,” Mr Constance said.

Mr Moore will continue as Chief Executive of the Division of Ageing, Disability and Home Care until a replacement is appointed.

Minister Goward said she looks forward to working with Mr Moore as the Government works with all Family and Community Services staff to improve services and the organisation’s capabilities and performance.
