'The Leisure Company' gets $250,000 from the NSW government

6 August 2011

The Leisure Company, which provides programs for people with a disability in the Wagga Wagga area, has been given a grant of $250,000 for the expansion and renovation of its Peter Street premises.

“The Leisure Company’s significant expansion in client numbers is testimony to the quality of services it delivers,” Mr Constance said.

The Leisure Company, which provides programs for people with a disability in the Wagga Wagga area, has been given a grant of $250,000 for the expansion and renovation of its Peter Street premises.

Minister for Disability Services, Andrew Constance, said that the investment would make a significant difference to the lives of people with a disability who were accessing the organisation’s services now and well into the future.

“It has a reputation for delivering excellent services which is recognised by the local community and the disability sector.”

Mr Constance said that The Leisure Company had worked hard to make the expansion and renovation project a reality by raising money through donations from local businesses and fundraising events such as its Gala Black and White Ball.

He congratulated the organisation for reaching its 21st birthday in delivering quality services and improving the lives of people with a disability.

The Leisure Company has grown significantly over the past 10 years and now coordinates six different programs for more than 150 people with a disability in Wagga Wagga and the surrounding towns.

Mr Constance visited the organisation this morning with Wagga Wagga MP Daryl Maguire.
“The Leisure Company has been under pressure with more and more people wanting to access their services,” Mr Maguire said.

“But this grant will make a big difference, allowing the organisation to take in more clients while continuing to provide quality programs for people with a disability.”

The NSW Government is investing an extra $2 billion in disability services over the next five years, under the second phase of Stronger Together.
