Seniors Week ‘On Broadway’

6 February 2012

Tickets for next month’s Premier’s Seniors Week Gala Concerts are expected to be snapped up within hours of their release at 9am tomorrow.

Minister for Ageing, Andrew Constance, said the tickets are expected to go faster than usual because of this year’s ‘On Broadway’ theme.

“A number of stars of musical theatre in Australia are expected to feature in our Broadway musical extravaganza, with more details released in coming weeks,” Mr Constance said.

A total of 30,000 tickets are available for the concerts which will be held at the Sydney Entertainment Centre with two on Monday, 19 March at 10.30am and 2.30pm, and the third for registered groups on Tuesday, 20 March at 11am.

Tickets are available to seniors who are 60 years or older with a limit of four tickets per person.

People can book from 9am tomorrow:

  • Online at www.ticketmaster.com.au (people booking online for the first time should create a user account before the tickets became available);
  • In person at any of the participating NSW Ticketmaster outlets; and
  • By phoning 1300 855 501 for the cost of a local call (but there may be lengthy delays).

People requiring wheelchair access to seats can only book by telephoning 1300 855 501, then press 2 and then press 9.

The Minister said the Premier’s Gala Concerts are funded by the NSW Government as a thank you to seniors for the contribution they make to the community.

“Extra Cityrail services will run between Sydney and Newcastle, the Central Coast and South Coast to help seniors travelling to and from the concerts,” Mr Constance said.

“The use of light rail and buses between Sydney Entertainment Centre and Central Station will also be included in the price of the cost of the pensioner excursion ticket.”

The concerts are one of the highlights of NSW Seniors Week, the biggest event in the Southern Hemisphere for seniors.

NSW Seniors Week is now in its 54th year and will also feature 900 events in communities throughout the State from 18-25 March 2012.
