Stronger Together 2 annual report released

21 December 2012

Minister for Disability Services Andrew Constance has today released the first Annual Report for Stronger Together 2, covering the 2011/12 financial year.

"As part of the NSW Government's commitment to transparency, an Annual Report has been prepared to show the people of NSW the highlights and achievements of Stronger Together 2 during the first year," Mr Constance said.

"The first year of Stronger Together 2 has seen an additional annual investment of $137 million a year benefiting thousands of people with disability across NSW. Over 5300 support packages have been allocated for new and innovative accommodation places, respite and family support arrangements as at 30 June 2012.

"Stronger Together 2 and the new agreement around the NDIS are the most significant investment in disability services in NSW history and the largest made by a State Government in Australia. They reflect the commitment of this government to improve the lives of people with disability, and to ensuring that NSW is ready for the future.

In December 2012 the O'Farrell Government struck a historic agreement with the Australian Government to rollout the National Disability Insurance Scheme in NSW from 2016. /p>

Stronger Together 2 will see more than $2 billion in new funding for disability services across NSW in preparation for the transition to an NDIS.

"As Minister for Disability Services, I am proud to present the achievements of the first year of the NSW reforms, and look forward to working with people with disability, their families and carers to ensure that over the next 5 years they are in the best possible position to benefit from the NDIS, and have access to the supports that they need to live the life they choose," Mr Constance said.
