Supported Living Fund for people with disability

24 June 2013

Minister for Disability Services Andrew Constance today announced that the final round of 100 packages for the Supported Living Fund will be madeavailable to people with disability in NSW.

“The NSW Government committed $60 million to the Supported Living Fund(SLF)over five years, as part of Stronger Together 2, to provide support for 300 individuals,” Mr Constance said.

“Following the success of the initial rounds of the Supported Living Fund, an additional 50 packages were released in late 2012. This next round of funding will bring that opportunity to a further 100 families across NSW, bringing the total packages to 350 state-wide.”

As in earlier rounds, people interested in the Supported Living Fund are invited to attend information sessions to be held over the months of July and August.

“This is to make sure they have the right information and can determine whether the Fund is something that will meet their needs,” Mr Constance said.

Carers NSW will run a series of information sessions about the Supported Living Fund for people with disability, their families and carers, as well as interested service providers. It will also be available to assist people with queries about completing an application form.

Mr Constance said that the Supported Living Fund is a great new example of a person centred approach which places people with disability, their families and carers at the centre of decision making about their lives, and its alignment with the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) will ensure NSW is NDIS ready.

For information session details, please call Carers NSW on 1800 242 636 between 24 June and 30 August 2013.
