Tickets available - Premier’s Christmas Gala Concerts for seniors
12 October 2012
Free tickets to the Premier’s Christmas Gala Concerts on Wednesday 5 December will become available to NSW seniors from 9am on Tuesday 16 October 2012.
This year’s gala will celebrate the quintessential Australian festive experience with the theme ‘Christmas by the Beach’.
Two concerts will be held at the Sydney Entertainment Centre on Wednesday 5 December. One concert for seniors’ groups on Tuesday 4 December is already fully booked.
A total of 30,000 free tickets are available for NSW seniors, with a limit of four tickets per person. Attendees must be NSW residents aged 60 years of age or older.
Minister for Ageing Andrew Constance said the concerts are extremely popular.
“Tickets are usually allocated by lunchtime the same day, so I encourage seniors to book early and if possible, to book online,” Mr Constance said.
“At the last Premier’s Gala Concerts in March, approximately 60% of seniors who booked tickets did so on the internet.”
Tickets can also be booked in person at participating NSW Ticketmaster outlets or by phoning 1300 855 501 for the cost of a local call; however people may experience lengthy delays.
Seniors booking online can prepare the registration for a free account with Ticketmaster in advance. Those with existing accounts should also ensure their contact information is correct to assist the booking process when tickets become available.
“The Premier’s Christmas Gala concerts are an opportunity for the NSW Government to thank and recognise seniors for their ongoing contributions to family, workplaces and the general community,” Mr Constance said.
The Premier’s Gala Concerts are managed by Ageing, Disability and Home Care and are staged twice per year, for Christmas and during Seniors Week in March. Previous performers at the Premier’s Christmas Gala Concert include Rhonda Burchmore, Jonathan Biggins, Denise Scott, Warren Fisher, Jaz Flowers, Martin Crewes, Gina Jeffreys, Fiona O’Loughlin and David Somerville.
The 1.3 million seniors in NSW make up about 15 percent of the State’s total population.
