Ability Links NSW key features

Ability Links NSW, an enhanced model of local area coordination, is one of the first steps in reorienting the disability system to one which is person centred and builds on people’s strengths with a focus on community inclusion and participation.

The primary objective of Ability Links NSW is to support people with a disability, their families and carers so that they are valued and equal members of the community.

Ability Links NSW aims to provide support at key points across a person’s life span to promote their rights to live ordinary lives in all areas of their life – community, public, private and social. Once this service has started, Ability Links NSW coordinators will facilitate the inclusion of people in the activities offered by local services and organisations by building the capacity and skills of people with a disability, their families and carers and by building social capital within organisations and communities.
