Individualised Accommodation Support

About Individualised Accommodation Support

Moving into your own accommodation and having the means to do it is an important step in your life. Most of us need some support from family and friends, and have to plan the move to make it successful and lasting. You may also require additional support to live in your new home.

ADHC is developing a number of funding options that will support people with a disability to enjoy greater independence.

Two of these options are the Supported Living Fund and the Individual Accommodation Support Packages.

For more information, please read the Supported Living Fund Guidelines (PDF) and the Individual Accommodation Support Packages Guidelines (PDF).

Individualised accommodation funding allows people with a disability and their family and carers to plan for the future, to access paid support and services, and to make accommodation arrangements that are centred around the person's preferences.

Key features are:

  • Individualised funding source
  • Portable and flexible, for instance if you move to another area
  • Based on an agreed 'plan of support'
  • Funding may be self managed, or with provider support (not direct payment)

The funding and number of hours of support you could expect are based on your assessed needs, and on the agreed plan of support.

If you access individualised accommodation funding you are actively involved in the ongoing management of your supports and services. If you wish, you may use external providers to assist with managing access to and purchase of services and supports.
