The Better Practice Project

What is The Better Practice Project?

The aim of The Better Practice Project is to support the community care sector in adopting evidence-based practices that enhance individual autonomy, independence and quality of life of people requiring support to live at home in their community.

An enabling philosophy and approach is the foundation on which the project is based.

Update on Enabling Pilots (aka Better Practice Demonstration Projects)

More than 200 HACC eligible individuals participated in four enabling pilots in NSW. The pilots ran from 1 July 2010 to 31 December 2011. The Evaluation Report on Enabling Pilots (PDF) is now available and details the findings and lessons learnt.

The pilots were located in:

- Clarence Valley in Northern NSW;
- Singleton in the Hunter Region;
- Northern Sydney;
- Sydney's Eastern Suburbs.

The Activating Enabling Forum (21 February 2013)

ADHC invites you to the Activating Enabling Forum to be held on 21 February 2013 at the Australian Technology Park Redfern. The Forum is for staff from community care organisations who have attended an Awareness Raising session on the Enabling Philosophy and are now seeking practical information on how to implement the approach. It will include interactive sessions on the findings of the Enabling pilots and other recent Enabling related initiatives.

ADHC is being assisted by Aged and Community Services (ACS) in staging the event. Information on the Forum (including how to register) can be found on the ACS website.
