$1.5m to build the capacity of the Aboriginal Disability Sector

The Aboriginal disability sector has been boosted with a $1.5 million funding announcement by the Hon John Ajaka MLC, Minister for Disability Services, on Monday 19 September 2016. This funding will enhance the capacity of the Aboriginal disability sector in their transition to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

The initiative involves two targeted programs:

  • The Aboriginal Disability Provider Grants Program (ADPG) - a $1 million support program for Aboriginal disability support providers.
  • Building Capacity for Aboriginal People (BCAP) - a $500,000 fund for initiatives that either support existing Aboriginal providers to enter the disability sector, or that improve the cultural competence of the generalist (non-Aboriginal) disability sector.
