DIA fact sheet 4 - employment screening Auslan version

In addition to the information contained in the video, the Disability Inclusion Regulation provides a definition of the term ‘criminal record check’ used in the Disability Inclusion Act ie it is an Australia-wide assessment of a person’s criminal history. The Disability Inclusion Regulation also states that: from 3 December 2014, FACS and its funded providers must conduct the relevant criminal records checks prior to employment; that criminal record checks for existing relevant workers (those who were employed before 3 December 2014) must be undertaken by 1 December 2015; and that, where a person has lived or worked in other countries, they can also be asked to provide a statutory declaration about relevant criminal offences.
